Decentralized multi-chain crypto wallet BitKeep on Wednesday verified a cyberattack that allowed threat actors to distribute fraudulent variations of its Android app with the objective of thieving users’ electronic currencies.

“With maliciously implanted code, the altered APK led to the leak of user’s private keys and enabled the hacker to transfer cash,” BitKeep CEO Kevin Como said, describing it as a “large-scale hacking incident.”

In accordance to blockchain security firm PeckShield and multi-chain blockchain explorer OKLink, an estimated $9.9 million value of belongings have been plundered so much.

“Money stolen are on BNB Chain, Ethereum, TRON and Polygon,” BitKeep even more mentioned in a series of tweets. “Much more than 200 addresses on the other three chains ended up employed in the heist, and all funds were being transferred to 2 main addresses in the finish.”
