The ICO discovered that the use of WhatsApp and other messaging providers in put of formal federal government channels ran the risk of “important information and facts all-around the government’s reaction to the pandemic getting lost or insecurely handled.” This provided protectively marked facts getting saved outside the DHSC’s servers.
