The previous comptroller of a Louisiana community faculty has been despatched to prison for wire fraud right after abusing her network access to issue fraudulent refunds.
Carol Bates admitted committing wire fraud from 2013 to 2016 though doing the job at Bossier Parish Local community Higher education (BPCC). The 50-12 months-outdated Shreveport resident conspired with her sister Audrey Williams and 9 other persons to steal funds from her employer.
Bates and Williams recruited nine people including Faith Alexander and 36-yr-outdated Marquise Perry to act as money mules in the fraudulent plan.

Perry pleaded guilty on December 9, 2019, and was sentenced on December 11, 2020, to 5 several years of supervised probation. She was also purchased to shell out $49,524.65 in restitution.
