New York State is creating a Joint Security Functions Centre (JSOC) to centralize and greatly enhance its cyber-defenses.

The heart was announced by state governor Kathy Hochul on Tuesday at a joint conference held with the mayors of New York Town, Albany, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Yonkers.

Hochul said that New York was forming a statewide staff to “thwart” opportunity cyber-attacks. She included that the State would be using the services of 70 “highly properly trained men and women to perform in a facility with 117 desktop pcs.”
