An energetic malware campaign has set its sights on Fb and YouTube consumers by leveraging a new information stealer to hijack the accounts and abuse the systems’ resources to mine cryptocurrency.

Bitdefender is calling the malware S1deload Stealer for its use of DLL facet-loading methods to get past security defenses and execute its destructive parts.

“Once infected, S1deload Stealer steals user credentials, emulates human actions to artificially raise video clips and other information engagement, assesses the value of personal accounts (such as pinpointing corporate social media admins), mines for BEAM cryptocurrency, and propagates the destructive link to the user’s followers,” Bitdefender researcher Dávid ÁCS mentioned.

Put in a different way, the aim of the campaign is to acquire management of the users’ Facebook and YouTube accounts and hire out entry to raise see counts and likes for video clips and posts shared on the platforms.
