An association for online promotion providers has been fined hundreds of thousands of dollars for producing an ad-targeting device that violated European Union knowledge laws. 

The Belgian Info Security Authority (BE DPA) stated it was needed to impose “harsh sanctions” on IAB Europe because the association’s Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF) “could, for a huge team of citizens, lead to a reduction of control in excess of their own info.”

In a statement released Oct 2020, IAB Europe stated that the TCF is a voluntary typical whose goal is to support organizations in the electronic promotion ecosystem to comply with EU details safety legislation.
