The United States Department of Justice (DOJ) is cracking down on the criminal misuse of cryptocurrencies and electronic belongings.

In a statement released Thursday, the DOJ introduced the appointment of prosecutor and former senior counsel to the deputy legal professional normal, Eun Young Choi, as the initially director of the Countrywide Cryptocurrency Enforcement Workforce (NCET).

Comprising section lawyers, which include prosecutors with backgrounds in cryptocurrency, cybercrime, money laundering and forfeiture, the NCET’s mission is to identify, look into, assistance and go after the department’s cases involving the legal use of digital property. 

The workforce will aim on digital forex exchanges, mixing and tumbling products and services, infrastructure providers and other entities that allow the misuse of cryptocurrency and similar technologies to dedicate or aid criminal activity.

A different function of the NCET will be to aid in the investigation and prosecution of severe crimes involving cryptocurrency and digital belongings in the United States and all over the environment by offering assistance and training to federal, state, local and intercontinental law enforcement.

Choi expressed her excitement and gratitude at becoming given the prospect to lead the staff.
