The freshly appointed main government officer of Pegasus adware maker NSO Group has relinquished his position pursuing the company’s current addition to the United States’ Section of Commerce blacklist.
Isaac Benbenisti was announced as the NSO Group’s new CEO on Oct 31 but experienced not yet taken the reins of his new management position when he handed in his notice. Ahead of his appointment to the major, Benbenisti had served as a single of the NSO Group’s co-presidents.
The resignation was claimed by Israeli media on Thursday, with Benbenisti attributing his conclusion to the Biden administration’s blacklisting of NSO Team previous 7 days. NSO Team is yet to comment on their new appointee’s conclusion to action down.

NSO Team was 1 of four companies additional to the Entity Checklist by the Biden administration on November 3 “for participating in functions that are opposite to the nationwide security or overseas plan pursuits of the United States.”
The other businesses have been Candiru, which is also centered in Israel, the Russian-centered Positive Technologies, and Laptop or computer Security Initiative Consultancy PTE, LTD., which is based mostly Singapore.
The US Commerce Department’s Bureau of Sector and Security said in a statement that the four entities were being included “on a willpower that they visitors in cyber instruments used to acquire unauthorized entry to data systems, threatening the privacy and security of people today and corporations globally.”

NSO Group’s blacklisting follows allegations that its signature spy ware product – Pegasus – was deployed by many governments to gather data on diplomats, journalists, clergy customers, and dissidents.
A consortium of journalists operating with the French non-profit team Forbidden Stories claimed a number of scenarios of activists and journalists, together with American citizens, who were hacked by overseas governments using Pegasus.
