A former civil servant has been imprisoned in the United Kingdom for hacking into the computer accounts of approximately 600 women of all ages and girls to blackmail them into sharing sexually specific images of on their own. 

Akash Sondhi, of Chafford Hundred, Essex, engaged in a cybercrime spree that lasted approximately three and a 50 % a long time and impacted 573 victims found about the entire world in nations around the world which include Australia, Hong Kong, and the UK.

The 27-year-previous, who was described by the Crown Prosecution Service as “an really manipulative guy,” was sentenced now in Basildon Crown Courtroom to 11 a long time in jail for blackmail, voyeurism, and cybercrimes. 

Judge Samantha Cohen told Sondhi: “You were being a source of pleasure to your spouse and children, but now you are a resource of shame.”

Involving December 26, 2017, and March 17, 2020, Sondhi gained unauthorized obtain to hundreds of victims’ social media accounts. Snapchat, a messaging application that lets people exchange pictures and online video that are intended to disappear soon after they are viewed, was his favored searching floor.

Some of the younger ladies complied with Sondhi’s requests, and in at minimum 6 scenarios, this serial sextortionist carried out his threats to expose their private photos.

The CPS said that a selection of Sondhi’s victims reported going through critical emotional and psychological hurt as a consequence of his steps. A single target even attempted to destroy herself. 

“Akash Sondhi is an incredibly manipulative male who inflicted psychological and psychological injury on younger women even though also receiving gratification from their pictures and video clips,” reported CPS senior crown prosecutor Joseph Stickings.

“Following a diligent and extensive investigation performed by the Essex Police Cyber Criminal offense Unit the CPS was able to construct a thorough case of 65 counts reflecting the high stage of his offending.”

Stickings went on to thank all of the victims who came forward to report Sondhi’s crimes, commending them for their bravery.
