Statements given just before a federal court docket on Monday accuse Kriuchkov of functioning with co-conspirators from July 15, 2020, to August 22, 2020, to recruit an employee of a business in Nevada. Kriuchkov’s alleged plan was to spend the worker to surreptitiously infect the company with malware that would give Kriuchkov and his co-conspirators entry to the organization’s laptop process.
A spokesperson for the US Department of Justice stated: “After the malware was launched, Kriuchkov and his co-conspirators would extract details from the network and then threaten to make the facts general public, unless of course the enterprise paid out their ransom need.”
